Nearly 5000 runners and sponsors raised 501,014 euros for the Cruyff Foundation.

On Sunday, April 2, nearly 5000 participants gathered at the Johan Cruijff ArenA for the Cruyff Legacy 14K. Walking or running they completed a route of 5 km or 14 km. This year, the smallest runners participated en masse in the special Kids Run in the stadium. The starting gun of the 14K run was again given this year by Johan's daughter, Susila Cruijff, together with Sjaak Swart. A record amount of €501,014 was raised by the runners.

Susila Cruijff was impressed by the massive turnout:

"My father believed in the power of sport. It connects and brings so much. To have 5,000 people participate here and thus commit themselves to charity is fantastic. He would be incredibly proud that this huge amount was raised. With this we can give children for whom sport is not obvious space to play and play sports."

Ambassadors
Attendees included ambassadors of the Cruyff Foundation. For example, Frank Rijkaard ran the 5 km with his son and Anouk Hoogendijk and Esther Vergeer participated in the Kids Run with their little ones. Paralympic athletes Marlou van Rhijn and Chantalle Zijderveld also encouraged the runners.

7th edition
This was already the 7th edition of the Cruyff Legacy 14K. The run was created in honor of Johan Cruijff, with the goal of enjoying sports together and raising money for the Cruyff Foundation. They also walked past the Cruyff Court in Betondorp, a place where many children and young people gather daily to play sports.

The event was made possible by the main sponsors: AFC Ajax, Basic-Fit, PwC and OTTO Workforce.
